We work closely with Interior Designers, suppliers and Interior Publications to promote inclusivity and diversity across the interior design industry.

Our fantastic Intern Aaliyah has been such an asset to our team, and we will really miss her – she’s incredibly talented, enthusiastic and proactive – I know she has a great future ahead and I can’t wait to see what she does next! Our Graduate Internship Scheme offers a one-year paid placement across three prestigious London-based companies, welcoming applications from graduates and young aspiring interior designers.

Supporting Graduates

Following my year internship with United In Design, I am now a full time designer for Eggersmann Design Ltd… My experience with United in Design was incredible, having had the chance to work at 4 design practices... Within these practices, I gained experience working on high-end residential and hospitality design projects. The internship enabled me to get an insight into different companies, and gave me the chance to network with many amazing designers over a short space of time; it gave me an opportunity to learn quickly, prove my capability, thrive and add to my current skills set…

Meet our intern partners for 2023/2024

The Vision.

United in Design, was founded by Sophie Ashby and Alexandria Dauley to address the lack of diversity in the UK Interior Design industry. Specifically, the lack of representation from the black, Asian and ethnic minority communities.

Through partnerships with established educational programmes, industry professionals and sponsors, the intention is to provide a clear road map for increased diversity in all sectors of the industry —design studios, makers, suppliers to individuals and magazines.

However, this movement will be driven by those businesses and people who are willing to lead by example, pledging their support and making a commitment to take positive action.

We are the definition of grassroots for now, but we are thinking big, and we’re in it for the long-haul.
